Poll question: Biggest Non-story of the year
Yes, the news is now infotainment! We know it, so please tell DU what you think the biggest non-story that was ramrodded down our throats of 2005 was?

12. A vote for the war on Christmas
After even with the Aruba thing something actually happened - the cable news services blew it utterly out of proportion but a girl did vanish - the Christmas thing - there was no there there. Ever. Totally made up out of hot air and steaming bullshit.

2. War on Christmas - a completely fabricated issue to solidify Bush's base
before the really bad stuff comes out next year.

4. Terry Schiavo?
I mean, it shouldn't have been a situation that became a story. Does that count?

5. Yep...christmas
I'd have to agree that the whole boiling over of the christmas debacle was the biggest non-story. That has been going on for years upon years and never received the amount of press it did this year.

6. Wow... I can't believe you hate the White Sox this much to include
them as a non news story.

8. I included the Red Sox too. I don't hate them (I'm a Mets fan)
But it didn't deserve the news and play it did.

16. Can't pick Aruba. If my kid were missing, I would strip naked and have sex
on TV if I thought it would get publicity and might help find my daughter. There is no reason why this story should have gotten any more attention than any other missing person case, but I can't call it a non-story because I do have sympathy for her family.

I would definitely say that it was Terri Schiavo.
