12. What I heard was that Amendments would replace Fillibuster...
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 04:13 PM by KoKo01
and at this point fillibuster is a waste of time. Better they got their Amendments on the record than to spend all day and night "talking" when they could get out of town to campaign.

It would have been better if DEMS WALKED OUT...but I know they couldn't do that because the "public" would see them as "cut and run." :-(

45. I don't buy that argument.
I know that it isn't YOUR argument.B-)

I don't buy it. How is protecting and defending the constitution "cutting and running"...

How is defending Habeus Corpus dating back to the 1200's "cutting and running"...

I say they WALK. The bill has already been ruled UNCONSTITUTIONAL by the SCOTUS therefore its passing is illegitimate.

Am I "out there" or would that work?

28. Right. It would have been can you sustain a filibuster or it is a
straight up and down vote.

Reid's options were limited. He had to make a choice based on which was more likely to work.

Based on everything I've seen and heard, the Amendments had a better shot then a filibuster.

Reid said on Ed Schultz that he did not have the votes for a filibuster.

The news channels are NOT covering this at all. Today they spent hours just showing the search for somebody who shot a couple of deputies.

This is a very sad day but put the blame where it belongs - on the Republicans.

If the pukes vote it down, they don't support our troops and others working for the government overseas. If they vote for it the specific definitions of torture are built into the bill as war crimes, many of which bushco have already violated.

Reid agreed to have the Dems get their butts kicked 3 times before the Dems get their butts kicked on the final vote.

Now the Dems can go home and whine that they tried to stop those bad Repubs, but darn, they just didn't have the votes.
