On Scarborough a minute ago--"Why does Rosie hate Catholics"
They are all up in arms because Rosie O'Donnell criticized the Pope.
Said she hated Catholics. Asking each other "WHY???"
To me, the answer is very simple, the Pope hates Rosie.
She is a gay woman.
So it is okay for religious leaders and groups to preach hatred amongst certain groups of people--but it is wrong for a private citizen to vocalize their hatred of the group that hates them?
What am I missing here?

1. Nothing - except two wrongs don't make a right....
I would prefer she took the high ground, so to speak, on this, but either way I support her.

3. She is-- she hasn't Pope bashed. She hasn't spit on him
She hasn't burned down his home.

She's taking the high ground in comparison to some who agree with the Pope's views on gays.

Oh-- she hasn't brought back the lion's dens either.

--from a born and bred Catholic who feels no guilt or resentment for his upbringing but who has nothing to do with the current papal regime.

2. You forgot the first rule of modern society.
One must never question religious dogma, no matter how irrational.

4. I never heard her say she HATED catholics
Why do they always do this? Criticism is not hatred.

I've also become a fan of The View since Rosie joined, only because MSM newsies have been skewering her ever since. That must be a good thing :hi:

5. It seems when you CRITICIZE, you must hate..
Edited on Mon Oct-02-06 08:37 PM by and-justice-for-all
...What your Critical of.

I have no mercy for the Pope or his followers, his ideology is open for criticism as is ALL ideologies. No special treatment for those of faith from me...

She disagrees and does not conform to what others expect, thats a good thing. I am glad Rosie is exercising her 1st admendment right as is Scarborough when he makes the moronic statement that Rosie HATES the Pope, which is false.

6. Rosie should concentrate on Protestant RWers
Edited on Mon Oct-02-06 08:40 PM by tocqueville
because if some religious group does hate gays, it is that group. This sounds as the usual Catholic bashing in mainstream America. Catholics are sure to blame for a lot of things, but the HATRED is Evangelical.

But this has to do with the old puritan Protestant streams in the US, still resenting the Catholic persecution 400 years ago. And a lot of them were thrown out of Europe, not primarily because of their faith, but because they opposed the local King. And the "Pilgrims" are the foremost example of that.

It's interesting to notice that this hatred between Protestants and Catholics practically doesn't exist in Europe, even in countries with a cultural Protestant majority.

Besides most Europeans, "Muslims" included don't give a fuck about religion except on Ireland and in Poland. There more important issues to discuss...

7. Because Scarborough is doing his Republican thing....driving a wedge
in a traditional Democratic constiuentcy. Personally, as a practicing ex-Catholic, I really don't think it has nearly the effect he'd like it to have.

10. What have the last two Popes said about homosexuality?
What do Catholic Homosexuals say about their Church's views of Homosexuals?

Has the Catholic Church hiearchy made any statements regarding Lesbian Nuns?
