ABC to name who knew what, when
ABC producer says network to name names in Foley scandal

RAW STORY
Published: Tuesday October 3, 2006

ABC will soon report who had knowledge of the Mark Foley page scandal, and when they became aware of it, RAW STORY has learned.

In an interview with DemocracyNow, ABC's Maddy Sauer has shared some startling facts about the story.

Pages have, according to Sauer, been able to produce instant message conversations going back as far as five years. Some of them are reportedly sexually explicit.

The FBI, Sauer claims, will be interviewing pages starting today.

Sauer also indicated that ABC's next wave of reports on the Foley scandal will focus on who in Congress was aware of the situation, how much they knew, and when they were alerted.

Update http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2006/10/new_foley_insta.html> *has just dropped another shoe on Foley*.

Former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) interrupted a vote on the floor of the House in 2003 to engage in Internet sex with a high school student who had served as a congressional page, according to new Internet instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages. ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys under the age of 18. This message was dated April 2003, at approximately 7 p.m., according to the message time stamp.

7. The tipping point was Katrina
Everything since then has been piling on, in a sense. The Rethugs have not recovered from Katrina. FoleyGate insures that they won't anytime soon either.

14. Well, I'd say at least the ABC news division is trying to...
I suspect some of our emails and phone calls really STUNG--particuarly after Charlie Gibson finally got his long coveted spot as anchor. Anchor of what? So, while I hold no illusions as to his often right leaning tendencies, I do believe he knows what is at stake. And, I have always regretted have to hurt real reporters like Brian Ross-- in order to send a message to ABC/Disney.

Edited on Tue Oct-03-06 01:56 PM by zidzi
reporting on mark foley on The Daily SHow with Jon Stewart commenting throughout? Sorry, but it was hilarious as only Stewart could make of something this tragic.
I don't watch tv news so I had never heard of Brain Ross but he was certainly laying it out on the mark foley bust.

I found it on americablog .. http://americablog.blogspot.com/2006/10/jon-stewart-on-foleygop-child-sex.html

if someone associated with this so much as has a D in his name, it will get turned straight to the middle, thereby absolving the pukes ... IF there is a D in this mess, he needs to be shot, on the spot, for blowing the best chance to pull this country back from the teeth of facism ...

11. ABC should air the unedited emails and IM's
Clearly, if a respected member of the GOP House can transmit such messages to minors, they must be suitable for public airwaves, right?

And ABC should thereafter sue Foley to recover any fines that the FCC levies against them for airing the inappropriately racy text.

I'll even take a Baker's Dozen....

Me thinks that there are an awful lot of GOP members in the GOP leadership that knew about it.

Here's the beginning of my list from the House (my guess is there are also people in the Senate and RNC that knew too):

- Hastert
- Boehner
- Reynolds
- Delay
