Oh. My.God. Their strategy is just: LIE.
AP's doing it too! Look at the part of this article that I have highlighted. This is truly an outrage.

James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, told an enthusiastic crowd of about 2,500 to 3,000 supporters Tuesday they should judge candidates based on their views about fighting terrorism, gay marriage and abortion.

"If you can find a politician who understands the institution of the family, who wants to protect children from immorality, who understands that we are at war with those who want to destroy us and who understand that liberal judges are undermining us and need to be reined in," Dobson said, "and if you can find a politician who lives by a strong moral code and believes in Jesus Christ ... if you can find such a person, it would be a sin not to vote for him."

(snip)

Dobson also said he has been "very irritated and disappointed with the Republican Party" and that GOP candidates whom "values voters" helped elect in 2004 have "sat on their majorities and not used them productively."

He touched on the uproar over former U.S. Rep. Mark Foley, D-Florida, who resigned Friday in a scandal over electronic messages he sent to former teenage male congressional pages.

11. Touche. (sort of)
(assuming "old person" voice) You see, time was, way back when they was called the newspapers, and not "the media", them newspaper boardroom fellas would kind of shade the truth... you know, kind of do selective reporting, and use certain sentence structures to paint the story the way their political masters wanted it painted.

But nowadays, seems like them fellers don't bother with that propaganda stuff. They just flat-out tell a baldfaced lie.

Like sayin' a man's a democrat when he's really a republican.

9. You go with what you are comfortable
Look we are in the ninth inning of this particular election cycle (well maybe eighth). Nows not the time for the Republicans to try a new strategy.

12. I've seen this before. One night Larry King had horrible
repuke Peter King of NY on to sing the praises of the chimp, right before the 04 election. All sorts of shit about him being a great President. The entire time King was identified on screen as a Democrat to create the appearance that he was a Democratic Congressman endorsing the chimp over Kerry.

19. Look at how the article was written...
It implies that voters should vote Republican because of the Democratic scandal...

He said he wasn't telling supporters whom they should vote for - Focus on the Family can't legally do that with its nonprofit status - but that he was urging them to be guided by their values when they vote.

"Neither party has a cornerstone on morality," he said.

20. That's just plain evil.
Labeling Foley as a Dem then using him to point out "neither party has a cornerstone on morality"!

These people are unfuckingbelievable.

22. Dobson is a nutcase who advocates that
fathers should shower with their sons to show off their penises. That's somehow supposed to keep the boys from becoming gay. (LOL)

I keep hoping some kid will tell his teacher "Last night my daddy made me take a shower with him so he could show me his penis." By law the teacher would have to call the police. Can you see the guy being lead off in handcuffs, "But officer, good Christian Dr. James Dobson told me to do it..."

17. We must now fight for the truth, one wingnut at a time.
If this lie is really so widespread, chances are many of us will encounter our usual wingnut neighbors/relatives/co-workers and some of them will say, "Well, I hope you're satisfied... your democrat congressman Mr. Foley turned out to like CHILDREN sexually!"

At that point, moving in for the (rhetorical) "kill" should be easy.

Shows how lazy these papers are about using anything the wire services send their way. Nobody even bothers to fact-check. Horrible.
