But it actually could be more depending on my day.

I live in a really, really fundy area whereby anyone who isn't a fundy Christian/Repuke is constantly preached too, pointed at, witnessed at, ignored or downright shunned.

So right off the bat I'd say I've got a whole slew of folks who work hard at making my day miserable from start to finish. I drop my child off at school and get a petition shoved in my face from the PTA president to endorse the local Repuke fundy for mayor. When I refuse (like hello?! I have Tammy Duckworth stickers and peace stickers plastered all over my car?!), she gets in a huff and storms off. And yeah, this is happening on the public school playground.

Then there's my business: horses first. These women perceive of their horses as their children which means that trying to manage a whole of herd of them means one individual is going to be pissed off on any given day. Every single stinking day there is someone trying to argue with me, denigrate my decisions, or challenge my very existence. It's really trying.

Organic produce is my second source of farming revenue. Why do so many people want to go off on a rant about how expensive your produce is? Shit, it takes so much longer and with more labor to weed a couple acres than to just spray herbicide, ya think?! They cheat if you leave a cash box out at the farmstand (I count that as "people bringing you down"), they argue with you and want to BARGAIN over a single fucking tomato at .15 cents each for god's sake. Recognizing the value of your labor, or the lack thereof, is another way of denigrating.

Rant off. Sorry but it's been a bad day.... (fuming)

18. Thanks. Saturdays are always the worst.

They are the busiest thus they are the day when opening one's ass for public humiliation is most notable. I hate that! You know what's really wierd is that I have a ton of people who want to board at my barn, a ton of people usually lined up for the produce in the morning.... I know I have a good product/farm which means I can be the eccentric crank owner since I have the business to jerk around/let go/draw lines in the sand. I just wish I weren't that person. I really want to be the nice friendly neighbor who laughs with her customers.

I actually went so far as to print out a bunch of articles referring to Iraqi insurgents vs. foreign jihadis in Iraq to make a point to a particularly virulent repuke customer (she said the foreign jihadis are the "majority", of course WE know they are in the neighborhood of 5-7% of the insurgent force).

And then I don't give a shit if I lose her as a customer. It's a really wierd business model. She knows it. I know it. She'd love to dump me as her barn, but her daughter/horse combo are winning with our training.... Love/hate. I work to educate where I can but it is ALWAYS a trial. We are really good at what we do which means we always have back-up clients but I hate being the adversary.

Anyway I just know that riding my broomstick with my pointed witch's hat with a huge "D" on the front gives that small minority of Dems in my district and business their daily laugh. I live for that!

22. So far so good. But I grew up in this area.

Henry Hyde is my congressman in the District I live in - the District I grew up in, Denny Hastert is my congressman for my farm.

I went to fundy churches growing up, repuke parents, and finally grew a brain! If a body is smart, one will figure it out. Yes, being a fundy would be easier but I know that's absolutely the wrong way - I know this from my own experience.
