QUESTION--Need FDR quote on war profiteering. I know it's out there.
Somebody posted a great FDR quote something to the effect that "as long as I'm president, no American company is going to make a dime in price gouging from the war effort."

But I been searching the web and not finding it.

Anybody got a link?

Thanks in advance . . .

MrT.

1. Here's one but not the one you're looking for:

We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace - business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering.

They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.

And this;

The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it comes strong than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism - ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power.

3. Easy to find Google: roosevelt war profiteering-lots of links to the quote
http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0707-03.htm

President Roosevelt raised taxes during World War II, including taxes on war profiteering. "I don't want to see a single war millionaire created in the United States as a result of this world disaster," he said.
