18. You give cats far too much credit.
I have one that thinks he is a dog. He wags his tail. So, I didn't want to hurt his feelings.

6. I don't know about you but the longer we go into october
I'm really getting worried what the rove's october susprise is going to be. it is something that they don't want the voters to have much time to think about it looks to me like as gotta do it right now is one of their tactics

14. I'm with you. Not counting any eggs until the vote is in.
And that will just be the beginning of a long battle.
We are fighting terrorism at home so it can't
spread any further overseas.

12. This article in tomorrow's WP has me really worried.
I think the fix is in again.

Something is definitely up, what it is, I have no idea.

20. it is eerily reminiscent
of comments made when florida was first called for Gore- i don't recall details, but something about the bushco gang just dismissing it and saying "not to worry"

26. thanks
Actually better than you might think. Sure, Hastert signs are popping up (I have Laesch signs in my yard even tho I'm not in his district) - gotta get Duckworth signs tomorrow

I attended Laesch town meeting Thurs - (while denny and bush were at the Hilton!)
I was impressed. See my comments:
Laesch Thread

I see that the number of "Iraq for Sale" parties around here is pretty good.

What is gradually dawning on me is that despite this being a republican stronghold, the reputation is more from the "winner take all" nature of elections. Its not that everyone out here is a thug; just that in every election thugs win. There are still PLENTY of humans, too!

13. I think they have seen the handwriting on the wall and are
struggling to cast their coming losses as a betrayal by the gays in their party that cost them the fundy vote. They can then still argue that "the country is behind them" on policy matters and save their evil plans for another day. They will claim they were "stabbed in the back" rather than disowned by the voters because their agenda has been an abject failure distinguished only by their utter incompetence at anything other than lining their own pockets.

15. The nice thing about this election is that it's kind of local
both for reps and senators. I know in my neck of the woods no one cares about gays, even the religious types. But they are buying into this Korea thing. Bush did it again. He is scaring the uninformed about this. I had a big argument about this with someone I have to do business with regularly. That person said we could have this debate because it was America and I said that we still can but the new FSI laws are worrying me.

16. Photo proof the republican party is falling apart
(snip)
So, I was a bit cranky on the drive out to lovely, little Ripon - which in addition to being the 'birthplace of the Republic party' is also the home of 'Ripon good cookies.' I'm pretty sure that's about all anyone in Wisconsin could tell you about Ripon...but I digress.

It was a nice drive though and by the time I pulled into town, I was feeling a lot better about life.

Then I saw it.

'The birthplace of the Republican party.'

The real thing.

The actual place.

There it was.

And here's how it looked...

19. My deepest, darkest worst fears?
That they are exposing their own.
Putting on a show before they declare martial law.
A "gotcha" type moment.
And nothing you can do about it.:scared:

22. yes, that's what wakes me up with night terrors
the same folks who think the geneva convention is "quaint" and the bill of rights "dated" think elections where the rifraff actually get to have a say in things are a bother. they've been experimenting with color-coded "terror threats" to learn more about how to manipulate the masses through fear. They will create an emergency situation so horrific that they can rationalize suspending the constitution, declaring martial law, and extending all the torture and indefinite detainment policies to whomever they deem to be a threat. They'll make the internment of Japanese in WWII look mild. And it will all be "for our own good".

24. why?

The little guys are upset, depressed, and afraid.

The middle level guys are fatalistic and manning the lifeboats- while throw a lot of, uh, problem baggage overboard.

The top tier is serene. They expect to lose Congress, but they hope that Lady Luck hands them yet another victory that they know they didn't deserve- like in 2000, in some races in 2002, and in 2004. Adamant stupidity has worked well for them so far, it may work for them again.
