"We(Republicans) might not always be in the majority...." Remember???
Back when Frist and company were going to use the "nuclear option" to wipe out the filibuster, some of the more seasoned Republicans, mostly moderates, spoke up and reminded them that Republicans might not always be in the majority. They scoffed, and said they were in power, and would certainly do whatever they decided to do and the Democrats would just have to take it.

The practice of holding votes open for hours until the requisite number of Republicans could have their arms twisted to change their votes, and then slam the gavel and declare the vote over.

The holding of hearings at times unannounced to Democratic members.

The holding of conference committee meetings, with only Republicans invited, where provisions were inserted in the final bill that were never considered by either house, or where provisions were deleted without any further discussion.

The hardball tactics of 6 years of BushCo will now come back to haunt them, as soon as the midterm elections are over with. I just hope there is plenty of video of the egregious Republican actions to play back for them as they yell and scream about abuse of them as the minority party.

3. I do, too. On their knees.
HAD it with these schmucks.

Around our house one of the prevailing guidelines is the statement: "if you act like a jerk, you're gonna be treated like a jerk." Perhaps that's how it should also be in the House we finally take back.

5. example A: the medicare bill
"Most of the approaches occurred during the pre-dawn hours of Nov. 22, 2003, when the Medicare vote was held open by GOP leaders from 3 a.m. to 5:51 a.m. Normally, a typical 15-minute vote may be held open about five minutes for late-arriving members. "

7. Yeah...
...this board "lit up" several times over the past six years over the GOPs congressional "tactics" (re: dirty tricks). It'll be interesting to see them squirm. Can't get lazy though. TURNOUT PEOPLE...

8. That Medicare vote, the one with Plan B in it
My god, that night just made me furious. We had it beaten, we were celebrating here at DU. Then as the minutes rolled by we wondered why the voting wasn't being closed, even though everyone had voted. We watched for hours as they went around the floor strongarming a few who had voted against it, refusing to let it end until they finally got enough to pass it.

My wife awoke that morning just after the bill had been passed, after at least 3 hours as I recall it, to find me staring at CSPAN absolutely stunned. My understanding of just how vile these people are really turned a corner that morning. I don't think I logged into DU for a week after that, I was just too disgusted and honestly felt little hope.

10. To Not Know About This You Had To Be Living In A Cave .....
Every one of these examples have been repeated over and over.

Tom Delay used to pay "special visits" to all Repubs who did not vote his way initially, and many think there was extortion practiced to get what he wanted. In fact, in one case Delay told a Repub if he did not change his vote they would destroy the Representative's Son's campaign. He spoke out and it hit the front pages everywhere.

Holding votes "open" became so common the press quit reporting on it.

12. Nothing Personal, But This Has Been Going Constantly Since Bush ....
...took office. The level of corruption and shutting out Democrats from participating in the legislative process has been so outrageous that people need to be reminded of it.

9. Dems need to do what Hoawrd Dean said
he would do. Break up the Corp Media Conglomerates. Right after he said that the Corp Media slammed him hard. The RWing stranglehold on Corp Media and Corp Media's complicity with the Busholini Regime must be destroyed.
