Current GOP slide is promising, but are we sure 11/7 will reflect?
What's stopping the '06 elections from being a "surprising" last-minute surge by the GOP that the prelim polls and exit polls again fail to predict? What's stopping 95% of the election machine glitches from again favoring the Republican? What's stopping the dem precincts from again gettng too few machines on election day? What's stopping the black-boxes from performing a little black magic?

Anything? What has happened in the last 2 years or 4 years that can give me hope?

My biggest fear is that the Republicans will stage an unbelievable comeback that we will only know about on election night. Rovey sure seems confident.

Someone please tell me I'm wrong. Someone please tell me I don't need to worry about the ultimate coup, that of the US election process. Without this, we have no country.

We all know the party in power is crumbling, but how do we know the elections will reflect the public sentiment?

1. Thank you for your concern.
Demoralizing the party that's ahead in the polls is hard work.

2. So is fixing a broken election system. This should be the focus.
Tell me, what exactly do polls mean?

3. Recent smiles by Bush imply the electronic machine fix for GOP wins is
done.

As the Princeton video shows, the coding to accomplish this is easily written, installed directly or as a fix or as a "virus", and would remove itself when told to report the totals so that there could never be proof beyond a statistical review of the exit polls - which our media and our courts will not accept.

Plus a report to Bush of the advanced stage of the vote suppression via problems with registration rolls, lack of working voting machines, etc. might have put a smile on his face, despite the polls.

The Venezuela electronic voting machines procedure of two receipts, one deposited at the polling place and one kept by the voter, with random audits of the polling places to prove electronic totals equal totals of deposited receipts, seems the only way to stop the GOP theft of election - since our media is not interested.

But it may be a while before we have as honest a democracy as Venezuela - even now our media calls Chavez a dictator!

I made be a while before we have an honest media.

It is getting very close to the 68-69-70 situation where the rich had overstepped and left of center violence began. But our left today make lousy revolutionaries - granted attacking the government is pointless as the folks are just doing their job - and the rich live in gated communities.

But perhaps Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged world will be here soon....

4. Couldn't agree more. And it truly scares me. The real question for 11/7:
Is there a large enough gap between public sentiment and what is possible to hide/fix/suppress during an election without public knoowledge? In other words, do the Dems have a large enough lead so that any fix becomes truly obvious to the American public?
