The republicans are making all the mistakes the Dems used to make
I am almost amused by the republican implosion. I will laugh hysterically when we finally win this thing. The republicans are doing everything that got the Democrats in trouble the last 12+ years. And I mean everything. Here's the list.

Spinelessness. Each candidate has a different position depending on the difficulty of their race. The tougher the race, the more likely the position will change.
Lack of message. What do the republicans stand for? More of the same? Stay the Course? Cut and Run? I don't know and neither do they.
Out of Touch. There are candidates saying that Baghdad is like Manhattan, Iraq is under control, and all kinds of other crazy things.
Washington centric campaign. The republicans are letting DC dominate their campaigns. They have lost touch with the needs of individual voters.
DC committees overriding decisions of candidates. There are at least three ads out by the RNC that the candidates in the race want pulled. The RNC insists on leaving the ads up, ignoring the requests of their candidates. This is pure desperation and will hurt the local candidate ultimately.

Republicans are doing an amazing job at making the case against themselves. Let's hope it continues.

2. it's remarkable that they dropped "stay the course" while all of the thug
candidates were using that phrase in their campaigns. the administration is literally pulling the rug out from under the party.

3. or is it?
They could be using Chimpy as a lightning rod for negative attention.
It's a republican standard best exemplified by Old Bush's VP Dan Quail.
Whenever old Bush needed the cameras directed away from his operations, Quail would do something ignorant for the cameras.
Chimpy's fate just doesn't matter to the republicans. He's a spent shell. In the absence of a successful impeachment we're stuck with him no matter what he does or says.
But his antics can distract screen time from Iraq, election fraud and the Republican Enabling Act just long enough for them to steal another one.

4. The Democrats at their worst never looked this bad
The two low points were 1980 when Carter lost the White House and 1994 when the GOP took over Congress. Of the two, they probably looked worse in '94. There were congressional scandals and Dan Rostenkowski was going up the river. President Clinton's health care initiative ended in a fiasco. We're still suffering for that.

And since the coup of 2000, the Democrats have simply rolled over and played dead while Bush, not legitimately elected in the first place, assumed dictatorial powers. He and Cheney have got to go, now. (Am I getting through to you, Ms. Pelosi?)

5. People in power are about the same. That is why we always
need one part of Congress being the other party. And these people learn to be better crooks just like the people who rob banks.
