The New York Times blog, called the empire zone now "approves" comments prior to posting them. When I added a comment to a terribly resourced article on the Lieberman slush fund, I received the following message: "Your message will be posted after it has been approved." I guess this is a scarey new world for the grey lady. Once again the "old media" doesn't understand that they are being left behind.

I'm guessing that they don't want insane insult-fests to start up - this is a particular possibility at the NY Times, which is the whipping gal for the nutty right.
