Oh NO! {insert issue (D) here} just made us lose every race everywhere!
Oh, WOE is US! It's all over, we LOST already!!!!!

It must be true, because a sudden wave of very "concerned"
new DU members said so...word for word!!!!!
And Karl Rove said the same thing on the TV today,
so obviously BOTH sides are against us!

Oh, if only we foolish, easily-decieved liberals hadn't openly
supported {workers/gays/victims/brown people: choose ONE}
we might still have a reason to go out and VOTE!

But now we DON'T, because the {see above} issue
has already made our utter defeat a certainty!

OBVIOUSLY, all we can do now is shut our foolish mouths,
stay home on election day, and hope we don't
make the same mistakes come 2008!

1. Just surrender your liberal principles and WIN!!!
:puke: That kind of 'winning' sure sounds like 'losing' to me.

14. Remember what Harry Truman had to say on the subject
When Democrats act like republikkans...we lose everytime.

17. Harry Truman is kinda like my dad:
The older I get, the more sense he makes.

And I've begun to suspect that the change
isn't HIM, it's ME.

18. Yes. I'm actually old enough to remember that.
Edited on Fri Oct-27-06 10:31 AM by TahitiNut
While I was born while FDR was President, Truman is the first I clearly remember. I particularly remember that he walked for exercise, both in the streets of Washington and in the streets of his hometown in Missouri. The occasional stories of his hometown neighbors coming up to him, while he was President and afterward, and personally taking him to task for one disagreement or another. Harry never dodged dissent. Never.

2. And, Henny Pennny, the sky is falling!
Hate to use that, but, jeez, it does get old. Shut up and get out there to get your (hopefully progressive) Dems elected in any way you can.

12. Hey, the sky is not only falling...
It's filled with brown non-christian illegal-immigrant drag queens
carrying dirty bombs full of socialist pamphlets recommending universal
healthcare, equal rights, and a living wage!

BE AFRAID! VOTE REPUB!

6. No, it sure isn't.
A few DUers who have been here running up their
post-counts with bland fluff for months have
suddenly started posting some very strong, specific
opinions...

Karl Rove's opinions, to be precise.

The kind of OBVIOUS posts that just make you feel SAD
for the sorry little creatures behind them.

The kind of parroted, talking-point crap that would
make a homeless crackwhore look up from a back-alley
pocket-change BJ and and take momentary COMFORT in the
fact that someone, somewhere, had obviously sold even
more BASIC HUMAN DIGNITY than they ever could.

4. I don't know why

but election time brings out the morons here like no other time. I think a lot of them will be crying on Nov. 7 and 8, because being insecure and fussy and more negative than anyone else won't command any respect anymore.

The opiners generally make no effort whatsoever to look at or understand polling numbers for anything. Looking over the NJ gay marriage rights thread, it's just ridiculous how few people have a clue about what kind of collapse in numbers all 'Christian Right' positions have suffered in the past two years. Joe Average no longer gives a damn about gay marriage. You can't get him to like it, rarely if ever to vote for it, but you can't convince him it's some kind of social danger anymore. It's purely an issue for the wackos (to borrow some language from the Abramoff crowd).

7. I know why.
They aren't actually the MORONS they pretend
to be.

They are here for a reason, and the reason is
propaganda psych-warfare. Any other explanation
goes far beyond the laws of probability.

10. Before the 2004 election
almost every third poster was one of those "concerned" posters. One couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a half dozen of them.

middle with a dead cat to swing at them.

23. Thanks for educating us on the real polling numbers
I sure hope you are right that the RW bigots don't care about the issues that seemed to motivate them in 2004. I think you are probably correct, though there is no way to know for certain until the elections are over.

9. Yep, it's everywhere, in many forms
From the "we can't win because of..." to the "well, what's so bad about...{insert rw platform talking point}?"

Here's one that caught my attention:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=2492254&mesg_id=2492254

Funny how when they describe themselves as a young person who is just looking for information, they seem to know every rw talking point about that subject and never engages in real dialogue about the subject--almost as though they are trying to sway lurking readers...:grr:

16. Yeah, that "I'm a young person" seems to be a focus-group phrase....
I'm not "young" anymore; I'm 37. Lord willing, I'll
be 38 in a few days.

But I _WAS_ young once...and back then, I went some places
and did some things and saw some stuff that anyone who
ever walked upon the face of God's green earth would
certainly describe as "interesting".

And in all that time, in all those places, never ONCE did
I find occasion to describe myself as "a young person".

GENUINE "young people" never do.
Never have, never will, anywhere, EVER.

Because they're YOUNG.

It's not unusual for people here to become worked up, edgy & paranoid before an election.

I'm guilty of it myself - oh, well.
