<snip>

He still gets out and reports on occasion, most recently visiting the Middle East during the Israel-Hezbollah conflict this summer. They get Fox News Channel over there, too.

Fox News Channel has been No. 1 most of its decade on air. But ratings have plateaued of late, and Ailes reportedly is not happy. Smith, though, thinks that’s to be expected.

“This war in Iraq is a mess, bordering on a disaster,” he said. “People are depressed, they’re confused, disillusioned in many cases by what’s happening in this country right now. And they don’t want to see it every day. … So they’re not watching as much. They’re not watching our competition as much, either.”

 :nopity:

Uh Shep, last time I checked Keith Olbermann was up nearly 70% over last year. Speaking of.

Correspondents Tell Olbermann: "I Wish I Could Say That Too"

Keith Olbermann says virtually all of his colleagues at MSNBC have been supportive of his special comments, with "a lot of correspondents saying 'I wish I could say that too.'"

The Countdown host participated in a comments thread at Firedoglake yesterday, and he said management gives him "no crap" about the special comments. "The only thing they ask for is more of them," he says. "I point out I can't supply these on demand. They're organic; otherwise I'm Limbaugh without the hallucinogens."

He also described how he comes up with the special comments:

A) Get pissed off.

B) Hear the 'Special Comment' bell go off in my head.

C) Write it

D) Rewrite it

4. When a prostitute holds a presser about the sex and drugs?

Too bad he can't (or wont') just come out with dignity and grace like Neil Patrick Harris did last week.

13. He's not in the closet. Who doesn't know he is gay? You want him
to wear a dress to work? Coop is pretty open.

3. Gee, do you think they'll go for counseling?
If I remember correctly after Election 2004, the "liberal" media had great fun in reporting a story about Kerry voters who were seeking counseling. They made it seem these people couldn't accept the reality that their candidate lost (to Bush).

So maybe now's the time for these neo-con fascists to seek counseling for their lost grip on reality...

9. They don't do counseling, too 'unmanly'
for them. Look for an increase in wife-beatings, dog kickings, racial epithets, and DUI's.

6. When the fuck does Faux "cover the war???" If they DON'T wanna see war, they should tune in!!!
Hell, it's all candy, sweets and soccer games to the Faux-nuts over there. They're building schools, and everyone is happy, happy, glad, glad!!

As for KO, when Ebersol gave him that gig, it was truly a saving grace for America...I sometimes wonder if, when Dick's kid got killed in that plane crash...well...

You know...

12. I know someone that watches Fox religiously.
A friend of mine just told me her father turned 81 over the weekend and she said she was taking her husband, mother and daughter to the symphony. I asked why not her father, she said he doesn't want to go anywhere but stay home and watch the news. She said she was tired of politics. Now she didn't say but I am sure her father watches the Fox News 24/7. They are good at the brainwashing. He loves it.
