Folks, it is JUST PLAIN WRONG to call multiple offices of the same Senator

But, if you aren't sure your message was received, then that is okay.

Especially if it is a matter of life or death.

But only if you want to double check that somebody got your message, okay?

For example, if you want to contact Senator Blanche Lincoln (who is voting NO, but isn't sure about the filibuster, according to http://www.democrats.com/alito-48), then DEFINITELY contact her at her Washington office. But, if the voice mail is full, or you just weren't sure her very busy, very harried staff people were able to hear you, then maybe you could contact one of her other offices.

You can always find contact information for our Senators at www.senate.gov -- all of our Senators care about what the people they work for think, and I am sure the busy Washington folk wouldn't mind getting a few messages from the local people.

1. I don't know about that. I guess you didn't read the post the other day

from a lady who used to be a Pub and switched to Dem about a year ago. She explained how the Pub groups make themselves seem like a much bigger group of people. They go to church on Sunday, and the minister tells everyone to call their Sens & Reps regarding the talking points of the week, and even tells then exactly what to say. He also tells everyone to call several times, using different accents, and to call EACH OFFICE. That way it seems like there are hundreds or thousands of calls on a particualr subject, when there really 1/2 of that or less!

I think it's a cheap trick, but it's not illegal, and it sure seems to be working for them!

In Senator Lincoln's case though, I'd say it's a health issue. This notion of opposing both Alito and the filibuster (the only actual mechanism of opposition) is so nonsensical it could well be an early sign of some sort of mental illness.

I would call just out of concern. Really, you can't be too careful about catching these early-warning signs.

It sounds like what you're advocating against might be called a phone "spam." I'm not sure what your experience has been but I know that all of my colleagues and peers have not advocated calling the same senator repeatedly except for if lines are busy or they couldn't be reached.

You mention not calling unless it's a "matter of life or death" and to me, it is just that...it's the life or death of our democracy that's at stake here. As a lib/dem, I've always wanted to take the higher road and I think our record shows that; however, we are not playing with simple adversaries here...we are fighting against the most corrupt and evil people we've ever seen occupying our White House AND fighting for our lives.

I personally have no patience or desire to speak to any of them more than once if I've been able to get through..I simply move on to the next one and I've found they have all taken my call and that's WITH informing them I'm not a constituent. Not one has turned me away.

This seems to have been reduced to a choice between doing things the con way or taking the higher road. There comes a time when we need to not take the higher road but the HIGHEST road. Let's not spend time here fighting each other. Let's work together in our own way and focus on the things we CAN do.
