7. I am very unused to feeling happy about America

In the part of my life that thinks about politics and what kind of future America has, I have been DEPRESSED, frustrated and not-hopeful at all....for 6 friggin years. Now that I am hopeful again, I don't know how to deal with it! It is a very unfamiliar sensation, and it makes one part of my brain very uneasy. Am afraid to trust this new feeling. I guess I'll get used to it.

8. It's OK To Breath...But Just For A Moment.

Yesterday I spoke with a very happy, yet very anxious Florida Democrat. She was happy about retaking the House but was fearful of the right wing and corporate media backlash. I don't blame her. After all these years of propaganda and double-speak, the credibility of the corporate media was a big loser the other night and they are trying to get out from under that cloud.

The beltway, paid-for, corporate media is still in a co-dependent relationship with the money and bullshit of the GOOP and I expect we'll be fighting them as much as the GOOP next year as they distort what the new Democratic majorities are trying to accomplish. The RNC battleplan will be to turn Nancy Pelosi into the new Gingrich and orchestrate a campaign to downplay any Democratic success and overplay GOOP stands and accomplishments. Given standing up for what's right and his access and invites to the drinkie-drinkie parties, we know what's more important to the whore media.

Right now the corporate media saw the election results and are pandering to the "winners", but be assured, they'll be back on the GOOP message soon.

10. We Need To Watch More Carefully Than Ever...

Let's start with the upcoming lame duck session. Be assured the Repugnicans will attempt one more fleecing of the treasury and to find ways to cover up, bury or shread any and all evidence of their corruption. The lobbyists will have one last chance to write their own legislation and be assure that virtually every bill that comes to the floor will be loaded with earmarks and other hidden perks that will take months or years to uncover.

The lesson of Tuesday, IMHO, is the truth sets you free. A majority of Americans voted against all the bias and propaganda of the Repugnicans and their corporate media toadies, but that's just round one...many more lie ahead. Fortunately, the Repugnicans are so corrupt and inept now that I can't see them regaining any credibility in time for '08. Many of the same issues we won on Tuesday will be around in '08 and hopefully we can deliver a coup de grace in that election that is a total repudiation of their deceiftul party.

Not well. It's extremely sour and bitter over there, and they're predicting doom. Every other story seems to be that your taxes are going to be raised (with no evidence whatsoever). I lasted about an hour. Interesting dynamic there. They put Maura Liason from NPR on as the "liberal" then flank her with two wingnuts plus Hume, so she gets about a tenth of the face time, leaving it 90 percent winger, then they call it fair and balanced.
