1. It takes time, but you can reconstruct a shredded document...
My mother inadvertantly cross-shredded part of a grad student's term paper along with some of the department's old temporary student records and spent two weeks taping it back together so she could get enough info from it to re-type the sheets for him. It was only 2 sheets, but still...

These are what high-volume intel operations have. The product of this machine looks like dryer lint.

Incidentally...the site I stole this image from sells used shredder motors--250-horsepower shredder motors.
