Social Democacy Works

Still "best in the world"
The latest list from the UNDP (United Nations Development Program) rates Norway as the best country in the world to live in for the sixth year running, after toppling Canada from the top spot in 2001.

Wohooo! :-)

Social democratic politics do work.

In a few years, with a stronger Democratic leadership and influence in the US, I expect you to move up the list. Ya seriously gotta overtake Canada :-)

Seriously though, I don't take this UN ranking all that seriously, but at least it servers as an indication that social democratic and labour policies does not make a country into an unlivable place.

BTW: Congrats on the election results. I think everyone in Norway rejoiced this week. Sadly, there has been a growing anti-American sentiment lately because of Bush. Hopefully that can soon change as he dissapears from the scene (in handcuffs? :-)

Norwegians are happy :-)

"Never has there been more interest in mid-term US elections in Norway, and rarely has there been a more collective sigh of relief after Democratic candidates roundly trounced Republicans loyal to US President George W Bush.

Some top politicians called it a "political earthquake." The president of Norway's Parliament echoed many by calling the election results "a clear signal" to Bush that a majority of Americans now opposed the war in Iraq and want a change in policy." <snip>

Have a great weekend you all! :-)

Cheers from Norway.

3. The good thing is that even our conservatives are
by and large social democrats too. It's just small matters of degree.

I love America, and most of all I love that you won on tuesday.

Now, make Dennis Kucinich the next president, and I might apply for a green card :-)

2. Thanks, the world seems to have taken a collective sigh of relief THIS
vote. The last one was a WTF is America thinking? Which was my take also.

We have been dropping like a stone in every poll - from health care, to freedom of the press, to people wanting to immigrate here.

There are a few we have moved UP in ... who the the greatest threat to world security and peace...etc.

4. Yeah..... American arrogance can sometimes go to far.
I had a friend in Colordao. His generic response when talking about international politics was "Shut up, We will nuke you."

Cheers.
