In the early 90's, I wrote that losing Communism was the worst thing to happen to the Repugnicans cause it would take away that omni-present boogieman that made them relevent. You know the type...Ivan...the Boris Badenov Soviet spy or the Fat, Hairy General with the thick accent ready to send the nukes. Or there was the Asian menace...usually it was Chinese, but the meme included Vietnamese and Koreans as well...a yellow peril that the "Domino theory" would lead to Communist domination of all of Asia. With the Berlin Wall crumbling, so did the Boogieman...no one to make use cower in fear and beg Repugnican chickenhawks to protect us. Gone were the billions to the defense contractors to build the next super new-fangled weapon system to up the ante. THe GOOP was swinging at a ghost.
Then came along Saddam and Osama Bin Laden. We already had the stereotype of the oil-grubbing Arab to work with from the oil shortages of the 70's and the Iran hostage fiasco of the early 80s. These guys provided that Boogieman and many of the old Cold War chestnuts began to appear again. The rhetoric the wingnuts spew today about "Islamofascists" sure sounds like the "Commies Are Coming" crap from the 50's and early 60's. While the Commies were a threat because they were athiests, the Islamofascists were just as much of a threat cause they weren't.
Mr. Scorpio, many of these goons have been isolated for most of their lives in a cartoon world. They live in simplistic blacks and whites...good and evil...and have never had to face the complexities of the real world. Mommy & Daddy either sheltered them away in home schooling or made enough money they didn't have to compete in the real world and could retreat into their cartoon world...which was fed by the likes of Rushbo, Faux News, Gnewt Gingrich and the self-righteous attitudes that went from intolerance to hate to what appears to be action. Fake Borax...and then???
There is no irony when you have no reality to base it on.
BTW...had a chance to hear some of your audio...i'm a radiotype as well...sounds good!
Cheers...
