To all who fought so hard here to stop Alito, thanks and don't give up
The passion on display in this forum during this process will remain an inspiration to me for the rest of my life

We wrote letters, made phone calls, e-mailed and bombarded our Senators like never before. It wasn't enough. But it's far from over. We must continue the fight for truth and justice; without them, there will be no freedom.

It's darkest just before dawn, remember.

Tomorrow is another day. I'll be back.

Who's with me?

2. Amen
Let's stand with our brave Democrats without whom there wouldn't have been a fight at all.

This isn't a defeat, it's a setback. Success is not an abscence of failure; it is a refusal to allow failure to keep you from coming back to the fight and trying again.

8. I wanted to write something like this too
I really have been in awe of the efforts I've witnessed here. Of course I made phone calls and signed petitions too. But to see us all working together like this... it's probably the only good thing I've seen come out of this, but its wonderful.

12. I'd like to add my thanks to everyone here, too
I live in North Carolina (one of the reddest states there is) and I work out of my house, alone. While I should have been editing a document and writing a software manual, today I spent most of the day on DU reading about Alito. I sent faxes and emails and read about others who did, too. I know that it's awful to feel defeated again, after feeling it in 2000 and 2004, but finding a group out in cyberspace that feels this feeling with me so that it's not just me whining to my completely liberal family gives me hope. We keep chipping and chipping and I think one day their power base will erode.

11. I'm still stunned...
I don't know what I think. But, if the past is any indication, I'm gonna be wicked pissed and freaking angry in about an hour.

Until then, enjoy the silence....
