Subliminal Advertising at the Huffington Post?

Has anyone else noticed when you first go to the site and are scrolling down something flashes for a millisecond over and over? Is this a blocked pop up ad or are they spamming us with "subliminal" advertising? Whatever it is, it's annoying as hell.

5. I'm on Dial Up and I get those flashing ads that won't release

so much so that there are sites I won't even go on. Huff Post has them...and the posts are too wide for my browser and screen to handle. I have to scroll back and forth to read. I copy and paste to my notepad to be able to read.

I think it's dial up...but if you have faster service and this is happening then I wonder what it is?

It's mostly Microsoft Run Sites like MSNBC and Huff Post this happens with btw. I'm fine on other sites. But, I use Netscape and not Internet Explorer for everything. :shrug:

7. I've been studying the page for a few minutes

and at this point I suspect it's related to having other parts of the page automatically update
every few seconds (note the AP Breaking News and TMZ Breaking Gossip boxes that change and
highlight/animate every couple of seconds). I see ads and graphics from other parts of the page
flash on different parts of the screen synchronously with that. It may be an artifact of
the page being re-rendered in the browser. I'm using Firefox, by the way.

A lot of web pages are just too busy for their own good. It becomes very annoying to look at.

I sometimes get that flashing thing here at DU... hmmm maybe the admins are up to something? :shrug:

I hate websites with too much "noise" as I call it and usually it will freeze up my computer so I avoid them.
