What did you think? What stuck out like a sore thumb to you?
I watched it, most of it anyways - by 10pm (et) I couldn't keep my eyes open any more and crashed.
for what it's worth - my 2-cents:
According to my count (up until I crashed) he said terror/terrorist 18 times. He alluded to September 11, but did not say the date. Mentioned WMD once, and specifically NUKES alot
The Axis of Evil has been expanded to include Burma, and Zimbabwe. Syria has officially made the list after a couple of years of tap dancing. Of course North Korea and Iran are still on the list.
It's still "stay the course" bushit. I am surprised he didn't mention anything about reducing troops in Iraq as this has been floating around for a couple of months and would make good platforms for repugs running for re(S)election.
Since he's done a "heck'v a job" with other domestic programs - he's going to do the same thing with health care and energy. Going on past performance vs rhetoric, I am very suspicious. The grass looks good, but watch out for the snakes.
The highlight for me was when the Dems stood up and applauded the "stalling" or "defeat" of bush*'s social security reform last year. This was followed by bush* slamming them and repugs leaping to their feet, followed by bush* calling for unity/bi-partisanship and then slamming the dems again. Yeah, the divider divides again.
My partner yawned at one point and said "if they (the repugs) stopped leaping to their feet every two seconds this speech would be over." True, but then it's the only time the repugs ever get off their fat butts. It's exercise.
Cat review: Normally in the evening we have 2-3 out of 5 cats on the bed while watching TV. Last night they were there, then bush* opened his mouth and they left the room. I guess the volume was still too loud, because I found two hairballs in the kitchen this morning. Will Pitt had called for the Dems to walk out of the SOTU as a demonstration of their diapproval. They didn't. My cats did, proving my spayed and neutered cats have more balls.
