MSNBC - Ten Influential Women of 2006: 1. Nancy Pelosi

With the Democrats sweeping into power in Congress, Pelosi stands ready to assume the speaker’s chair in the U.S. House of Representatives. Originally from Baltimore, this mother of five and grandmother of six paved a pretty impressive political road: Representing a California congressional district that mostly is made up of San Francisco since 1987 and elected the House minority whip in 2001. A staunch supporter of women’s rights, Pelosi voted for the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, which made it a crime to commit violence against a pregnant woman that results in the death of an unborn child, and is a proponent of upholding Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion.

2. I'd never heard of the majority of women on the list
and why is the number two woman someone who does cooking? Someone I've never heard of--I dunno, sounds a bit sexist to me--implying that important women are those who can cook?
