dick cheney's last mortal thoughts.
I do so hope I outlive big dick, I'd really hate to miss the state funeral and the pomp and circumstance at his passing. I'd hate to miss that happy day, and it keeps me going.

I wonder sometimes what his last mortal thoughts might be when he realizes his time is finally up. "Damn it all, if only I'd earned just a few pennies more". Or, "I'm ready for my eternal reward in heaven now Lord". Or, "What's that smell, sulfur"?

Will he think of his place in history? Will he think about all the wonderful things he's done for his country? Will he worry about his bank account or his last will and testament? Will he want a big funeral and tomb befitting a man of such stature?

Will he imagine all the swell things folks will say about him over his casket, or the swipes his detractors will take at him?

Will he give even one, fleeting thought about all the human misery he leaves in his wake? Will he ever doubt his life's calling and feel a tiny instant of regret or guilt or fear of hell?

Will his withering sneer stay on his corpse throughout the ages?

It's just a little daydream of mine to keep me going, till that happy, happy day that this son of a bitch croaks.

5. Do Vice Presidents get state funerals?
Did Rockefeller? Agnew? Humphrey? Alben Barkley?

Rocky and Humphrey probably deserved them, but I don't think it's standard.

7. We'll probably have to live to a pretty ripe old age to outlive him!

If I do, my thoughts will be pretty much those of Hilaire Belloc, in his epitaph on "The Politician":

Here richly, with ridiculous display,
The Politician's corpse was laid away.
While all of his acquaintance sneered and slanged,
I wept, for I had longed to see him hanged.
