Actual White House Christmas card 2006 - war on Christmas rages on:

The quote is from the Old Testament. It actually contains a "code" message for the evangelicals. "Thy word" may be understood as Jesus, without naming Him by name.

1. Two things....
...there is neither heart nor light in the White House and there is no snow because of global warming.

Rest up, Little Monkey and Small Dick, John Conyers might, righteous gavel is acoming.

2. Then I guess evangelicals don't understand the bible
Psalm 119 is in the old testament, which is by definition before Christ. It therefore can't refer to him.

I do think some fundies don't understand the bible BTW.

3. "In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God."
Fundigelicals interpret that to mean that Jesus was always there with the OT God from the very beginning, and that all such references to the "word" in the OT are about Jesus.

6. The Church has always interpreted the Word as Christ.
That's an old one, since it goes back to the first Seven Ecumenical Councils.

Of course, most of the time, that particular verse is interpreted as the Bible, not Jesus, at least in the church we're in now and the evangelical one I grew up in.

7. So I had always thought too
"Word" from the Greek logos. I had always thought of it as the bible or in a similar manner, God's grand design.
