We really should learn from our enemies
Republicans and conservatives in particular, have done a masterful job of taking over a goodly slice of the media. A conservative can spend his or her entire day surrounded by a conservative point of view with relatively little expense or effort. Fox News on TV, numerous talk radio stations, and in most media markets at least one openly conservative news daily exists. Conversely a liberal has to either live in select locals or go to a great deal of expense and still can't find a tv equivalent of Fox though they can get radio and papers. This wasn't always the case. Conservatives spent money, time, and effort to make this happen.

We have wealthy liberals. We have entertainers. What we don't have is discipline. We also don't learn from what worked. Rush started off in a small market, honed his skills, and then was syndicated. He took the long view as did people like Dr. Laura, Dobson, and Hannity. None of those people tried a coast to coast system from the get go. None owned stations.

If we are going to go the station route then we should erect or buy several stations on the Canadian side and the Mexican side of the border and broadcast at full power. People as far south as Kentucky and Virginia can hear Quebec radio. People in Oklahoma can hear Manitoba radio. Large swaths of the country can be covered by a few stations that way.

I prefer syndication. Rhodes surely would do well as would some others in that model. Our enemies did this right. We should copy them, not reinvent the wheel.
