Bush surges to about 50K more troops and dares the Dems to stop him.

The Dems cut funding.

Bush orders the treasury to print bonds or currency to fund the war. Or worse, Saudi Arabia funds us to prop up the Sunnis and we switch course yet again.

The Dems start investigations leading toward impeachment.

Bush ....


You can imagine the rest. In my scenario, an entire unit of the guard refuses to re-mobilize with prejudice. After that, the conflagration becomes epidemic.

I read a piece yesterday with the argument that the civil war in Iraq is coming from Iran so we may as well go directly to the source of the problem. If we don't do something about that line of thinking in a hurry, I'm afraid just enough people will buy in to give Bush cover. This is getting very scary.
