The Bush administration is out in full force this weekend on the talk and news shows, pitching the president’s controversial new plan to add nearly 22,000 troops in Iraq. The lineup also includes leading Democratic opponents of the proposal.
On ABC’s “This Week,’’ with George Stephanopoulos, the White House will be represented by Stephen Hadley, the national security adviser. A key member of the opposition, Congressman Jack Murtha, Democrat of Pennsylvania and chairman of the defense appropriations subcommittee, is also a guest. And rounding out the list is Gov. Arnold Schwarznegger of California, who made news this past week with his health care plan.
CBS’s “Face the Nation’’ is slated to feature a senator from each side, John McCain, a Republican who is an ardent supporter of sending more troops to Iraq to quell the violence, and Senator Barack Obama, a Democrat who has criticized the president’s strategy.

CNN’s “Late Edition’’ is also chock-full of guests, with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Senators Carl Levin of Michigan and John Kerry of Massachusetts, Hoshvar Zebari, Iraq’s foreign minister as well as General Richard Myers, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
