Castro Reportedly in 'Grave' Condition
MADRID, Spain -- Ailing Cuban leader Fidel Castro has had at least three failed operations and complications from an intestinal infection and faces "a very grave prognosis," a Spanish newspaper reported Tuesday.

A Cuban diplomat in Madrid said the reports were lies and declined to comment.

"It's another lie and we are not going to talk about it. If anyone has to talk about Castro's illness it's Havana," the diplomat said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of official policy.

The newspaper El Pais cited two unnamed sources from the Gregorio Maranon hospital in the Spanish capital of Madrid. The facility employs surgeon Jose Luis Garcia Sabrido, who flew to Cuba in December to treat the 80-year-old Castro.

2. well if it is like the old soviet union
Castro could very well already be dead or in a coma, and htey just arent telling anyone yet.

hells the old USSR dragged poor Konstantin Chernenko out of a hospital sick bed, to have him vote. died shortly afterwards.

a dictatorial country like cuba is always extremely secretive about its leaders health. similar things happened in China with Mao. he was a sick man for a long time, but they would occassionally have him sitting in a chair with some foreign dignatary pretending like nothing is wrong. when in reality he was barely able to walk and talk.

or spain with franco. SNL even had a running gag on one of its early seasons about it.

4. Seems a lot like this country.....
it was kept quiet about Reagan and his dementia. Also, Bush isn't exactly mentally fit and none of the MSM will report it.

5. i am not a physcologist
or a physchiatrist so i cannot judge if one is "mentally fit" . i can state my opinion, but it isnt really based on much.

I think that during reagans last years the MSM kept it hushed about the early stages of alzheimers that he may have been suffering from. you do see from time to time stories about it, but they are kept hushed for the most part.

i think I even remember him getting brain surgery after he left office because of "fluid build up" on the brain. but now i wonder if he underwent an experimental surgery for alzheimers
