Pelosi: "We Have A Plan, And Bush Knows It - Democrats Oppose The Escalation Of The War"
Edited on Tue Jan-16-07 10:23 AM by kpete
"We have a plan, and he knows it," Pelosi said today as she was mobbed by well-wishers following her keynote address at the 22nd annual holiday breakfast.

Pelosi, addressing the crowd on themes regarding King's life, raised the issue of Iraq repeatedly and noted that America's troops in Iraq have shown themselves to be brave heroes and an example the nation -- just as King had.

She said that in the last election, "the American people spoke out for change," and "nowhere was that voice more clear than in the war in Iraq.'' Today, "Democrats oppose the escalation of the war," she said to cheers. "Let me repeat that: Democrats oppose the escalation of the war.

"We have said to the president ... we want you to have a plan, and this is what we suggest," said Pelosi, "a redeployment of our troops out of Iraq" to help "make the region more stable and make America safer.''

4. As long as this means redeployment without
considering attacking Iran, then this is one of the reasons they were elected.

5. the troops have already started deploying to area again..
so what's the plan Nanc? Are you gonna talk and delay while more die and we move towards another war in the same region? Everyday that you delay, more troops die, are crippled, and driven insane, and the whole while the pres feels impowered and moves along in his sick little plan for...whatever the hell he wants to do.
So are we going to have meetings some months from now and maybe send a letter, or are we going to act. There is a short time frame that the people have given the dems. Once that time runs out, we will come after you dems as well.

7. I think the plan is to talk about opposing but not to hinder
Edited on Tue Jan-16-07 09:58 AM by mmonk
(at least that's what I get out of it with prominent dems saying there's nothing they can do because they are "constrained" by the constitution).

6. You've highlighted the wrong bit in the title, I think. "Don't escalate" isn't a plan.

"We oppose the escalation of the war" isn't a plan. If that was all she was saying, the Republicans would have a point. "Don't escalate" isn't in itself a plan.

"This is what we suggest... a redeployment of our troops out of Iraq": *that's* a plan, and it's clearly the best plan possible. *That's* the important bit of this announcement.

8. Of Course the Dems Have a Plan
But the Republicans' plan is so bad and can't be sold that it is easier to keep saying the Dems don't have a plan.

Last night on Scarborough Pat Buchanan was trying to say that over and over. Joe didn't allow it. It was interesting seeing how Pat hd nothing to say when Joe wouldn't allow "the Dems don't have a plan."
