George McGovern on C-Span - IT IS GREAT! ! ! !
McGovern: "When asked if he discussed his upcoming invasion and bombing of Iraq, the president responded, 'no, I discussed with with a higher father.'
I would ask him why the heavenly father gave him such a message when he gave the exact opposite message to the Pope in Rome."

what a great man. A war hero, a honest politician, a patriot.

2. Apparently, the higher father's words were lost in translation
Somehow, I doubt if Bush speaks much Italian beyond Mafioso and ciao.

4. I watched the re-broadcast of this event last weekend. McGovern
knocks it out of the park. He really goes after Chucklenuts and his reichwing crew. Classic McGovern.

5. now you know why

I supported him for President when he ran in 1968. I was a volunteer for his campaign and I was just a kid too (not old enough to vote). It was U.S. OUT of VIETNAM at that time. :D

7. it is so strange seeing someone string words together into
deep, well constructed, well thought out and informative sentences.

I guess he's not the decider.

9. I worked for McGovern too.
5 minutes after the polls closed on election day the media were all announcing that HE LOST. It was a very, very sad day.

13. I did too
I was too young to vote as well, but I worked for him and hoped that he would have been elected. How different things would have been if he had.

stage. What a fine man he seems to be.

10. both he and Polk. I gotta get their book.
did you catch how he described it, short, paperback, cheap, and easy to read? it was as though he was daring the shrub to read it.

15. Yes, a great man. I ought to know: I voted for him despite knowing his UNelectability
Edited on Tue Jan-16-07 01:13 PM by UTUSN
If every one in the 2nd row had ALSO taken office, our country and world would be an incredibly better place. But if we can't field winning candidates, our agenda doesn't get furthered one whit in an all-or-nothing system.
