White House: No Libby pardon-talk

As jury selection in the federal trial of former White House senior adviser Lewis "Scooter'' Libby gets underway in Washington today, the White House is scuttling any hint of a possible presidential pardon.

"We're not discussing anything about the case,'' Tony Snow, the White House spokesman said today, but he did say this to a question about pardoning Libby: "I'm not aware of any discussions about a pardon.''

2. Maybe they just intend to hang him out to dry
with denials.

3. "I'm not aware of any discussions about a pardon.''
I believe that's what's called a non-denial denial.

The pardon discussions probably began before Snowjob arrived, within seconds of Libby's indictment.

4. They're probably discussing it daily then...
I've learned to take everything they say, and believe the exact opposite.

5. I believe it will be done in an "in your face" style
If Libby is found guilty, W won't wait until he's about to leave office. I can see W pardoning Libby before Libby exits the courthouse. W picks his nose and flicks it at America.

6. "I'm not aware of any discussions about a pardon.''
That means they ARE talking about it and he WILL get a pardon.

7. When Libby gets pardoned, this is how it will be spun...
"Well, the word "dsicussion" was used... That implies that there were differing points of view. There was no "discussion" because there was a consensus that a mans loyalty and integrity should not be used to punish him for acting his conscious. Mr. Libby has been a key player for this and other administrations, and I'm frankly sickened by the Democrat's partisan witch hunts and name calling."

Either that, or

"I can't believe that you fell for that..." ::big smile::
