Libby-Juror Dismissed: “Nothing” Bush Admin "Can Say Or Do Would Make Me Think Anything Positive"

Of the nine potential jurors interviewed, six were asked to return Wednesday and three were dismissed.

Of the those three, one woman was let go after being asked about her views of the Bush administration. She answered, "I am completely without objectivity. Nothing they can say or do would make me think anything positive about them."

A male financial analyst was also dismissed after he told the defense he would not be able to put Vice President Dick Cheney on the same footing as other witnesses. "I don't have the highest opinion of him, the potential juror said, “He has done a lot for the country, but I don't think it would process what I think of him."

When ask if he would be able to separate in his mind the negative feelings he has for Cheney, the man replied, “In some subjective way maybe. I don't know about Mr. Libby, as I know about Mr. Cheney."

I could honestly follow the law per the judge's instructions. What would sink me is Cheney. I couldn't honestly say that I'd believe a word out of his mouth, no matter how many Bibles he put his hand on.

if they run out they are stuck with the next person on the list. it does look like they`ll get a jury but it certainly won`t be a "jury of their peers"...ya sometimes it sucks to be rich in a poor city.

for the duration of the trial I'd do the exact same thing. But my employer only pays for a week of jury duty. Selection takes that long.

The only real reason they're even making statements like that is because they know the trial will be long and have no desire to serve on a jury. Then again maybe if people were not afraid of their employers wrath while on Jury that would allow more people to suck it up and do their duty.

Telling the judge about any prejudice that might exist before being seated is the first step toward justice. I wouldn't be able to be seated on that jury either, for that very reason. I have served on other juries though, and am likely to do it again.

My employer pays for a week of jury duty. I can't afford to be without my paycheck for weeks or months, and I suspect most people in that particular jury pool are in the same boat.

30. That's the problem with juror duty.

It's suppossed to be a part of civic pride and duty. When I went one guy was blatantly trying to get out and said as much out of chambers. And I totally understand that, and I've typed like 5 reply's and deleted them. I guess I'm just confused and frustrated with the state of our justice system. Especially since these bastards are so rich you know they won't get a fair trial just because of the lawyers and legal teams these people can afford. So when you hear people making statements that would tend to 'tip' the scales back in the favor of justice over the exploited loopholes, just to get out of throwing this bastard in jail... It would be like me ranting about what I think of Bush at his trial at the Hague just to because I thought the trial would be boring.

31. I get called for jury duty every year.

I live in San Francisco, a small town really, where if you serve once you're "on the list" and get called up regularly. Judges even joke about it, saying "see you next year" when they let you go, and it's true. They will. I'm more than happy to serve if it's a short trial, but most aren't. So the jurys end up being made up of federal and state employees, who get paid as usual, and retirees, cause they're the only ones who can afford it.

It just reminded me of my fathers 4th wife who refused to register to vote for fear she'd be called for jury duty.

But I suppose it was better she didn't vote considering her 'views'. She sucks.
