Poll question: Your Thoughts: The REAL Reason Bush Won't Renew Illegal Spy Program
Edited on Wed Jan-17-07 06:47 PM by journalist3072
So, I've been thinking: what is really behind Bushie's decision to not renew the domestic spy program? (Per Alberto Gonzales "Any electronic surveillance that was occurring as part of the Terrorist Surveillance Program will now be conducted subject to the approval of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.")

My own personal view is that Bush knows this program is unconstitutional and illegal, and he's hoping to have this (IMPEACHABLE) issue off the table before the Democrats really get going with their oversight hearings.

So what are your thoughts on why Bush has decided not to renew this program?

After you've voted in the poll, please explain your answer, as I'm curious to know what everyone thinks!

1. Well, I did pick the 'impeachable offense' option.
Still, that seems awfully reasoned and foresighted of him. When has Dubya ever acted like that?

2. He cannot undo his crimes.
I believe, and hope, presidential candidates will be in a race for who can say "impeachment" the most times.

His days are numbered.

3. They've started a different program that hasn't been exposed yet.
The so-called "Terrorist Surveillance Program" was never about surveiling terrorists. They've been gathering political intelligence on their domestic rivals.

6. His daddy is scared shitless that all the lies are starting to unravel.
Dems were getting warmed up to crackdown on Repuke corruption and the WH GAVE IN at the last minute. Stupidly thinking it would save them.

See, the shit hit the fan so long ago that now they can't get rid of the smell and want to flee like rats.

Too bad for them they broke the law and legal maneuvering won't change that now.

7. This is really scary.....Rachel Maddow just finishing talking about this and
she was saying the same thing that I just said in this post....that the Bushies probably want this off the table before the Dems really start investigating.

I think she said it's Russ Feingold who says he still wants his questions answered.

8. Other, bush has lied about most things, why not about this?
He feels confident he has gotten rid of all the leakers. No doubt he is considering impeachment, but, is he really aware enough of the reality of the world around him to truly understand that he could be impeached? Daddy, and the beast he calls Mom, has covered him from day one, bush figures he won't stop now. It is the bubble effect.
