So china can shoot a satellite - big f*ing woop de doo

We can hit a comet
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4647673.stm

And we have rovers on mars, that's hitting something pretty damned far away.

Note to china: Get back with me later on all those things 'mmmm K?

Now you folks have done some amazing shit over there, and hell - I couldn't hit a barn with a wrecking ball myself. But if anyone expects me to sit up and notice they can knock a satellite out of the air and then expect me to worry about it...well, so sorry it ain't gonna happen.

1. You should reconsider
If China is able to shoot down a satellite, they can damage our systems of communication, positioning and surveilance. That would level the playing field in any war.

2. Regrettably, it is not without strategic significance.
It appears that was are, to paraphrase Lenin, like good Capitalists selling the rope with which we might someday be hung. Hmmm, lemme see, the Chinese are transforming all the bucks they're holding into weapons capable of transforming our military (so utterly dependent on satellites) into the deaf, dumb and blind kid.

Some people view this with a certain trepidation. Questions arise. Like, is it a real good idea to go into hock to these guys in order to fight what was a completely unnecessary war? Are the Chinese really nice cuddly Capitalists all of a sudden? Or are they preparing to fight the resource wars certain of their generals have predicted in various speeches? While I am not advocating a confrontation with the Chinese, I am suggesting that this, along with other actions, do suggest we perhaps rethink our economic relationship with them.

4. I would totally agree with that.
Sometimes I am sorry Nixon ever went to China. Asia is buying our lunch and we are in hock to them. Don't even get me going on the stealing they do of our intellectual property and military stuff.
