Peace March Jan. 27
I know this has been posted before, but with all the talk about Hillary and the SOTU, I need info quick.

DH said last night he wants to go to the march next weekend. We're even looking at and deciding on which signs from VolunteerForChange.org to carry. (He likes "Republicans Against The War" - since he is a republican who hates what * has done to this country, I'm undecided - I want them ALL!)

For those of you who are going - where are you staying? Are there any hotels near/around the site that aren't outrageously expensive? We are willing to pay up to $200 - 250/night.

Is there a DU meetup for Fri. or Sat. night? Fri. night might be tough for us as we'll be driving down after work on Fri. & won't get in probably until 9 or 10:00. But if we stay close to where the meet is, we could stop in.

I am TOTALLY psyched! The long-range weather forecast looks amenable to driving (sunny and 49 degrees in DC on Sat.). We just need to plan now to make plans for our kids to stay w/ relatives and to have someone watch our critters (2 dogs - a hypersensitive miniature poodle, a hyperactive goldendoodle, and 2 cats who couldn't care less).

I can't wait for next weekend and hope to meet many of you like-minded people!

1.  I used to book a cheap chain motel...

...eg. Econolodge, etc. inside or around the beltway ( i.e. in Maryland or Va) and take the metro in. The metro is quick easy ride to the mall area.

Last time I stayed near Georgetown in a more upscale place ( Renaissance something or other?) with an indoor pool and mucho amenities. Point is: you still have to take the metro to get to the mall!

I'm probably not going this year... although it seems with DEM control of congress, some type of public demo might be more effective now.

You can have my room. Good luck.

3. Thanks!
I'm on it!

Sorry you can't make it. I'm sure you'll be there in spirit, which will make it more powerful. Is there anything local going on where you live?
