Best line I've heard in a long time - and from a Democrat !
Stephen Lynch, D-Mass, appeared on C-Span this morning. He is asking for a hearing on mis-use of pre-war intelligence:

http://www.house.gov/apps/list/press/ma09_lynch/PREWARINTEL.html

<snip>

“Considering that Republicans held 140 hours of hearings on whether President Clinton abused his Christmas card privileges, it’s inexcusable that they continue to stonewall our requests for hearings on an issue of national security,” added Congressman Lynch. “I hope that this resolution will encourage leadership to do the right thing by the American people and schedule hearings as soon as we return to Washington in January.” <snip>

5. Lynch is reacting to the rising opposition against him in Mass.
I suspect he's using the distraction page out of KKKarl's playbook. He's pro-war all the way.

7. Nice. Much better than our "Dems" on MTP Sunday
Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif): "I support the program, I’ve never flinched from that."
Former Sen. Tom Daschle (D-S.D.): "We support the wiretapping program."

Yes, they then launched into discussions on legal nuances. But once you've conceded the main point, you're just like Kerry in '04, splitting hairs and nattering about nuances that the general public doesn't understand and doesn't care to.

Kudos to Rep. Lynch. We need hundreds more like him in the House and Senate.

14. Ugh - you are so right. Also, Reed - D- RI on Faux News. They
repeated the mantra that the dems have no new ideas and the best he could come up with was something like, "well, we're not in charge."

8. This should be repeated at every interview....
given by every dem from now until the elections in November. Make this point every time, it's not hard to do.

example:

Q: Senator, How is the weather?

A: I'm glad you asked that question. It is very much like the weather we had during those 140 hours of of Republican hearings looking into Bill Clinton's Christmas card privilege abuse. Do you know the Republicans continue to stonewall our requests for hearings on important national security matters? It is perfect weather for that now. Next question.....

20. Funny?.....
Is it as funny as those 140 hours of republican hearings looking into... etc, etc.

I think you get my drift. Everyday, in every way, pound away the message. :headbang:

BTW, everytime I see your name I get an image of Rob and Laura Petrie. Any connection?

28. Funny part: Q: Senator, How is the weather?
Hell no, the rest is not funny !

Well, the name "Laura PackYourBags" was dreamed up during that period right after the election, when we thought it would be overturned. George would have to say, "pack everything up, Laura."

Probably makes no sense now, unfortunately.

22. Damn right we're the angry party!
The Republicans are bankrupting the country, sending our young men and women to die for oil-company and defense-contractor profits, and cannibalizing the Bill of Rights to protect their own power. Now why would that make anyone angry? :grr:

27. Angry??
Maybe, but not nearly as angry as the Republicans were when they spent 140 hours investigating the alleged abuse of Christmas card privileges by the Clinton administration!

Am I getting it?

19. He also told one repuke caller
that he (Lynch) didn't want his vote.

Lynch stated that he was not a career politician, but that he was a steel worker (I think) and that he was for protecting the rights of the common man or some such stuff!

He was great.....but I've never before heard a politician tell somebody that their vote wasn't wanted.

Lynch has ball$!

25. Yes, it's a great line, but...
what media outlets picked it up and ran with it? NONE. The issue is falling on deaf ears. We are NOT seeing any form of outrage from the repugs in this country only from us dems, greens and indies in that order.

26. We need more Democratic politicians like him!!!
The Republicans are so scummy, running against them should be fun, not work. Just the fact that they impeached a President for lying about consensual sex with another adult, but seem totally unconcerned that their own President lies about EVERYTHING!

33. good point. In watergate, repigs, for the most part, dealt with it
in a non-partisan way. When will these repigs actually stand up for what is right? There must be some major, big time, retribution on them for dissenting. Amazingly powerful that they all fall in line.

30. I heard him this morning ! GREAT line.
 I loved how Mr. Lynch did a smackdown on a freeper from his state who said he was embarrassed that Lynch was a Rep. from his state and he was going to do everything he could to make sure he loses his reelection campaign. Lynch responded with "I don't want your vote. This is me. This is who I am and if you can't accept that, I don't want your vote." It was SWEET! :loveya:
