Let's agree with them.

Let's take the high ground and insist on special counsels, special prosecutors, special committees, special reports.

Let's ally with the Freepers on this. What a special opportunity!

I went back to work today but am not doing so hot yet. And the Orange Bowl is on tonight and I think I'll be in bed with the old CPAP going before kickoff. Maybe I can keep it on in the bedroom or something.

The problem is that the right's going to spin this so that people who haven't broken the law are going to be equated with people who did to make it look as though everyone did the same thing.

6. Just a talking point
Bloomberg:

Between 2001 and 2004, Abramoff gave more than $127,000 to Republican candidates and committees and nothing to Democrats, federal records show.

Enough with the docile repetition of "well you know Democrats are implicated in this too." They're not. The shameless perpetuation of GOP talking points in the guise of news by major media outlets is a creeping coup.

24. Exactly.
One of the things I learned from reading James Carville is that you NEVER, EVER acknowledge that "the other side has a point." Drill your own points as thoroughly as you can--but make sure at the same time that you don't defy logic, try to refute known fact, or any of those other pesky rules of debate...you know, the ones our talking head friends ignore on a daily basis.

Maybe we should try the "innocent till proven guilty" route rather than trying to show "bipartisanship" by lynching at first sight. :puke:

10. Yeah, amazing how abramoff
Edited on Tue Jan-03-06 07:41 PM by zidzi
did NOT donated one thin dime to the Dems..that makes bush a LIAR..Wait..he already is.

"Despite Chris Matthews’ minimization of the Jack Abramoff scandal, a November 25, 2005 Washington Post article identified four lawmakers under investigation in connection to Abramoff -- former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX), Sen. Conrad Burns (R-MT), Rep. Rob Ney (R-OH), and Rep. John T. Doolittle (R-CA) -- all Republicans. Our search of the Center for Responsive Politics database of campaign contributions did not find any contributions from Abramoff to Democrats or Democratic leadership political action committees.

Despite those facts, we have documented Washington Post staff writer Jeffrey H. Birnbaum miscasting the rising tide of ethics investigations and corruption scandals plaguing primarily Republican officials as a bipartisan problem. We have also noted a number of national media figures that have cast the recent spate of political scandals as "nonpartisan," while the vast majority of government officials who have been indicted or are under investigation are Republicans."

Edited on Wed Jan-04-06 08:38 PM by Catrina
You're not reading it right. That's how the Freepers are reading it. Someone needs to go over there and show them how to read it!! Then let's just sit back and watch!!

That list shows clearly that NO democrat got a donation from Abramoff!! Not ONE.

Everytime Abramoff's name, and his wife's, appears, it is right next to a Republican!!

Poor Freepers. I knew they were DUMB, but I didn't know they were THIS dumb!!

Here, you have to check out all the categories and this list is GREAT for Democrats!

http://www.capitaleye.org/abramoff_recip.asp?sort=D

Go down the list!! Thanks for posting it, but it's hillarious that Freepers just checked the first link and assumed all that money was directly donated by Abramoff!! I'm laughing so hard it hurts!

What a bunch of delusional fools they are. But Rush will tell them tomorrow that they read it right, and then they'll be fine again, no matter what their eyes tell them. Such is the depth of the harm done by listening to propaganda 24/7 for so many years!

47. According to americablog......
What was that about Abramoff giving money to Democrats?
by John in DC - 1/04/2006 01:15:00 AM

Here is the list of who Abramoff gave money to, per Michael Petrelis' research:

$172,933 - Republican
$88,985 - special interest
total: $261,918

That's 229 donations and not a DIME to Democrats.

The list of donations is long, but it makes a great visual, so I'm posting it anyway. Next time you hear someone say that this is a bipartisan scandal, whip out this list and laugh.

This comes from Newsmeat.com, they have all the FEC data. I just counted, and I think this list of GOP donors and organizations is around 15 feet long. Someone on our side REALLY needs to print out this list and get in front of a camera. Hell, every single one of our pundits should have this list with them on TV and just roll it out on the table.
