7. Jeb says he has "faith" in brother

Gov. Bush has faith in brother's administration in ports deal

By JOHN PAIN
AP Business Writer

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) -- Gov. Jeb Bush said Tuesday that his brother, President Bush, would adequately protect national security as part of the federal government's approval of the sale of a ports operator to a state-owned company in the United Arab Emirates.

But at least eight Florida Congress members, including six Republicans, questioned the deal and several of those promised to fight the approval with legislation. But the president later said the transaction involving six major U.S. seaports should go forward and that he would veto any congressional effort to stop it.

Among those in the president's own party that have questioned the deal is U.S. Rep. Clay Shaw, R-Fort Lauderdale. He said Tuesday he would introduce legislation next week that would allow only U.S. companies to buy and sell U.S. port operations. U.S. Rep. Connie Mack IV, R-Fort Myers, also opposed the deal.

Republican U.S. Reps. Katherine Harris of Longboat Key, Mark Foley of Lake Worth and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Miami called on the president to delay the deal so it could be reviewed further.

Foley said the decision was rushed through in 25 days instead of the normal 45 days required for a thorough investigation.

Foley and U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney, R-Oviedo, said they would sponsor a bill that would let Congress approve or reject such deals. Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson and U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz also opposed the deal.

Well, that settles everything. Obviously, we're all overreacting because Jebby has FAITH in his widdle chimp brother! Maybe I should just delete this thread, then. Sorry, this isn't directed at you; I'm just venting. The nerve of these people still has the power to enrage me sometimes.:)

9. He has everyone on his side that matters.....
The neocons didn't take over twenty years to put all of their people in all the right places for nothing. The Secretary of State, head of the C.I.A., Secretary of Defense, Vice President, all the MoFo's in all the right places, even down to the corporate media, with defense contractors sitting on the boards of all the major networks. From the think tanks to the public relations firms. They truly have ALL their bases covered. What the hell does he need the public for?

I believe he and many of his bunch will go down, but the question is, will he take the country with him?

27. Yeah.
The media who shill and whore for him. The Supreme Court (tilted to the right now with Bush's Roberts/Alito appointments). The Congress (still in Republican control). The bipartisan "rebellion" about the ports is nice to see, but the bottom line is Bush is still in power, still not impeached, and still destroying this country. He can still drop a nuke on Iran with no declaration of war, or consultation of Congress, just like he dragged us into the debacle of Iraq.
