Edited on Fri Mar-10-06 10:34 PM by Roland99
Local news had a teaser commercial just now that there's a terrorism warning for arenas for the NCAA tourney?

:eyes:

Found some detail:

Posting talks of NCAA terror threat

WASHINGTON -- The FBI warned Friday that a posting on a "jihadist Web site" had recommended suicide bombings at venues hosting sporting events like the upcoming NCAA basketball tournament.

But the FBI also stressed that it has "no specific intelligence" of any plot by an organized terrorist group to carry out this threat.

BUT

FBI: No credible terror threat on NCAA Tournament

1. Maybe they're just upset that there's no penalty for "carrying" anymore.
I can't stand to watch basketball these days...we used to have to dribble the ball with our hand ON TOP of it, or we got a penalty.

7. Anecdotal evidence, but I have seen it called much more this year.
I'm only an infrequent basketball attendee, so
I can't speak to the game as a whole....
But when I saw the first 'carrying' call this year,
it was a new one on me.
I had to ask someone what the Ref's hand signal meant.

Now, I have seen it at least once every game since.

9. they have to cause the ball to "rise" for me to call it

carrying. As long as the player projection of the ball is foward, backward, or side to side it goes. What I hate is when people start barking for a traveling call because of ugly basketball such as the ball bounces twice before a controling player touches it again; not traveling, the ball goes over the players hand with out being touched and the dribble it picked back up; also not traveling.

Now the one that really gets people is two offensive players being in possesion of the ball is traveling, I've called that and knew no one else knew the rule.

3. If they were really worried, they would cancel the damn thing!
Bush* will see his numbers drop into the low 20's if the NCAA cancelled the bb tournament.

On the other hand, I'll bet that Al Qaeda just writes notes and communications just to watch us jump.

6. Must be a terrorist-friendly ISP and web hosting site.
You'd think, though, that all the NSA and CIA have could do some good track down those people instead of spying on Americans, esp. Quaker peaceful protest groups.

10. Our biggest enemy is fear itself.
No.

Our biggest enemy is the Bush Crime Family that uses fear to achieve their political ends.
