Three years ago tonight....
We had the "Shock and Awe" and the bombs dropped on Baghdad and many Americans reacted as if they were looking at a fireworks show on the Fourth of July. And George Bush gave his announcement to the nation that we had officially declared war on the country of Iraq...

6. Whoa, good one, sis!
I remember watching it and thinking, "Does any Repub out there in TV-land who support this debacle realize that there are innocent people in those buildings?

It's now three years later - and I'm afraid too many of them STILL have never given that a moment's thought.

2. I didn't watch anything
I knew that thousands of people were going to die needlessly. I mourned for them.

3. I remember the days leading up to this
as being a desperate and anxious part of my life. I lived in Kentucky at the time and my lovely senator wrote me a letter telling me that he knew better than I did and also that he knew things I didn't and he was going to make sure Saddam was taken out. I despised him for that and I moved across the river because of it. A lot of good that did though.

11. At work that night
Heard a report on the radio and started cursing. A lot. Some of the guys were looking at me like I was insane and a couple of them muttered something like, "It's about time. Bomb the ragheads out of existence." It turns out that I was right and some have since admitted it to me. I try to be gracious, but it ain't easy. This is not some fucking sports event, this is deadly serious stuff. My boss is a Viet Nam vet and he has gotten increasingly outspoken against this folly. Since he has actually seen combat, people tend to listen to him.

13. 3 yrs ago tonight I went to dance class and couldn't talk
They asked what the problem was, I just shook my head and class began. After class, I cried and told them what the problem was. It was a middle-eastern dance class too.
