12. That's news to CBS?
Wow, I don't bother to add 2 words and you flame me

Touchy touchy

The MSM is out of touch with average Americans if they are just noticing that America is working more now- they are too little too late with the news

2. Sadly...the Bushies will think that's "uniquely American".
I guess it's easy though to think working 60-70 hours a week and getting 2 weeks off a year is a good thing when you take as much vacation as Bush.

22. Amen to that--how many workers have benefits these days?
50 percent maybe?

17. He actually said something like that at one of his fake town hall meetings
Edited on Sun Apr-02-06 08:02 PM by Mayberry Machiavelli
(I think on Soc. Sec.), where there was an unexpected "genuine" moment where a lady told about working two or more jobs, he was like, "that's great! (cough)"

On Edit: Aha, ocelot's got it on post #6.

3. The ugly side of productivity
Which the media celebrates all the time and everyone applauds like it is such a good thing. It is. But not for the workers. For the worker it just means fewer jobs, heavier workloads, and longer hours.

Down with productivity. Let's slow it down, and take more time to live!

15. They're NOT productive, that's part of the point
Europeans who work fewer hours and take longer vacations do just as much or more work than these 70 hour workweek crazy people.

Productivity means bang for the buck. Unfortunately management looks at the number of hours just the way they always looked at how "busy" an employee looked, not at what the employee is actually producing.

21. Yes, very true. Because we are human resources to them
And not human beings who need motivation and revitalization to work our best.

6. Here's what the Chimperor thinks of Americans working more hours:
"You work three jobs? … Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that." —George W. Bush, to a divorced mother of three, Omaha, Nebraska, Feb. 4, 2005

8. The chimp is such an idiot.
I was thinking of that response he gave when the report started. It's fantastic to have to work 3 jobs in order to survive?? She should've slapped him.

13. Fantastic!
"You work three jobs? … Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that." — I've not been able to do even one rightly. -- George W.

yah, it's just damn fantastic people can't get by on one job anymore.

18. What he means is:
"It's great that you are working yourself to death and probably never see your children because that means you're not on welfare."

He also means, "It's fantastic that my economic policies have been so successful that you can't make a livable wage, but my rich friends are raving about their tax cuts."

9. I am never going to complain about my hours again
Even working some weekends and the occasional late evening, I still only work 40 hours a week, with a little overtime sometimes that brings it to maybe 50 hours now and then. In fact, I am generally done after 40 hours whether that occurs on Wednesday or Thursday. Of course I am a "worthless" government employee LOL.

11. Did you see Leslie get soaked in the shower?
This one guy was such a workaholic, he had every room in the housed wired for every electronic gadget imaginable. He could even watch TV, operate his laptop, and talk on the phone while taking a shower. Leslie was in there when the wrong button was pushed.

14. I inherited a financial advisor when my pop died
and I'm sure this guy is one of those with a cell and Blackberry with him 24/7/365.

I can't imagine living like that. I was always grateful ill health limited my working hours. Even when I was too sick to weave, I could still sit and knit or meditate.

The weird thing is these loons say they LIKE it.

19. did you notice that the people in this segment
all looked like they were well up the food chain.

this has absolutely NOTHING to do with regular folk who have to work 2 and 3 jobs JUST to pay the bills.

60 minutes is becoming such a whore....

i wouldn't even watch the first segment, with the chauffeur of osama, who hadn't seen/talked to him since 2000, saying he was ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that osama was planning another major terrorist attack on the u.s. (saw that much in the ads during the runup to the show).

just more of the fear fear fear, terra terra terra, all the time.

guess what, 60 minutes? i don't give a shit about YOUR terror tactics.

:grr:

I don't think that's the norm.
