Just saw Gore speak at Drew University, Madison, NJ...
A huge crowd turned out in the rain to listen to Al Gore speak as part of the Thomas Keane lecture series at Drew. Al started out with some one liners such as "I used to be the next President of the United States."

He then got down to the subject of his speech--global warming. Using a slide show of charts and photos with some video clips, Al showed how the problem is even worse than most of us know. Glaciers melting, hurricanes more frequent and with greater ferocity than we have ever know, and droughts that are catastrophic.

He showed how there is no question of global warming among scientists. There is only a disinformation campaign funded by Exxon and other corporations. He showed how even China has stricter pollution controls on their cars than the U.S. does. Yet our auto companies are saying that they can't be competitive if they have to meet less stringent standards. Et cetera.

Al showed how the Bush administration has Exxon employees censoring scientists who are trying to get out the message about global warming.

Then Al started rallying the crowd, taking us through the history of the USA, exhorting us to fulfill the aspirations of our national heritage. It was great.

There were only a few questions allowed after he finished his presentation.

1. I'm delighted that you got to hear President Gore tonight
rfranklin, and I salute your decision to brave the downpour to do it.

Bravo to you, bravo to Al Gore.

It would not surprise me at all if he were to become interested in running again.

He's my candidate.

He's brilliant, passionate, elected President by a sizable majority of popular votes and......cute to boot.

act together.

We're 3% of the population and 24% of the pollution. That's unacceptable and nothing the vast majority
of Americans will tollerate if they get the right information. We're cruising down the path of total
destruction. One minority theory in the scientific community is that there is a chance for a slide
into territory much worse than we've anticipated (even with the 20 foot rise in sea level). Check this out. Global Warming 'Past the Point of No Return

GORE is the ONLY American politician of national stature to consistently take the
position that CLIMATE CHANGE is a threat to our very existence.

..and remember it's CLIMATE CHANGE not "global warming"...the whole damn thing is changeing.
