Is the fake FOX article on media collusion an attempt to discredit the web
It is on the official "stationery", and we know FOX has collaborated with our secret service in the past. Could this be an attempt to get people to distrust articles they are emailed from their friends?

We know the Pentagon has just declared war on the internet. I think this is the only way they can combat the blogosphere at the moment. Just delegitimize all internet news by polluting people's emails with fakes. I know it's a little tin foily, but it kind of seems feasible to me the more I think about it.

2. This fake story:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=2205542&mesg_id=2205542

people should at the least do the bare minimum of checking out stories before posting.

3. I agree--I don't think it was meant to be a joke.
I think someone is trying to "Dan Rather" the left-wing blogoshpere. But they outsmarted themselves--if the story were true, Fox is the LAST media outlet that would have run with it, because they're equally as guilty.

THIS story, on the other hand, is a perfect example of when it's meant to be a joke!

4. It is, sadly, a perfectly valid question.
And I honestly don't know what to think about it.

It was quickly traced to the real owner,
and faking a site like that is ridiculously simple...

But the tone of the writing just didn't seem right.
Didn't seem right for ANYTHING or ANYONE.

If it was part of the Pentagon's war on the web,
I think it was just a test run- a deliberate failure
intended to track our responses and reaction times.

But maybe it was just a poorly-written joke;
an April Fools gag that ran a few days behind schedule.

I don't know.

But I know that, in Amerika2006, anything is possible.
