He was from O'Reilly factor and an anti-pc guy, so it might be possible he didn't even realize that.

1. He did seem that stupid
I did like Colbert's zinger about how he read the guy's book "this afternoon from 4:15 to 4:30".

3. Many of them DON'T, you know.
The week he started the Repórt, someone here linked some threads from
the FreepSite, and they were LOVING him!

They thought he was the AntiStewart they had been praying for!

5. He likely knows, but wants to toot his own horn with the "libertarian"
subset of Colbert's audience--the Republicans who smoke pot, in essence. He's one of those "spell my name right" types, I suspect. Nothing is NOT for sale, including his integrity.

6. Who was that racist fuck?
All that crap about how all the terrorists looked alike, so all the people that look like that are terrorist candidates was sickening, even for a Republican.

8. On "American Morning" last week, Soledad and some other tool...
... were whining about "fake journalists" like Stephen Colbert. They had someone else in the studio, talking about the "credibility" people like Colbert were beginning to earn, and how troubling it could be.

It was as if someone didn't let them in on the joke. I couldn't believe my ears, and imagined the interns and younger staffers at CNN just looking on and chuckling to themselves...

9. When someone starts making fun of your line of work, ya gotta figure
it's only a matter of time before you have to stop making buggy whips and learn a new trade!

That's the flopsweat of panicked desperation you were hearing....

11. I wondered myself aloud to m wife that same thing
"Was that guy so stupid as to think that Colbert is a Republican?"

I like the way he kept trying to compare himself to Colbert, "Yeah guys like YOU and I GET IT.." said something like that twice..

Colbert basically tore the asshole to shreds and he didn't even KNOW IT. I've never seen anyone that clueless on his show before and I watch regularly.

I wouldn't want to debate Colbert tho, not in a heartbeat, he's the sharpest son of bitch I've ever seen and can FLIP you like a Dime.. I told my wife that he would have been one hell of a Salesman before he did Comedy, he really CAN convince you of anything, a real con man, but more of a con man like Jesus who promised that if We all "behave" that we'll go to a nice place when we DIE :)

I love the guy, and am thinking of buying some of his sperm "product" (I forget what he calls it) just in case there's a nuclear holocaust and we need to repopulate the planet with intelligent people :)

12. Will Colbert ever be sincere/serious again?
I wonder....

Even in interviews for other news sources he keeps his satirical face on. I bet if he ever seriously talked politics, he'd be up there with the sharpest intellectuals.

13. I think he knew
He just wanted to promote his book. Colbert is always fair about giving his guests time to speak their mind and this show was no exception. Colbert pointed out the stupidity of his stance, but I don't think the guy "got it". He'll figure it out later and be pissed.
