A little 9/11 help here please...
I am looking for real-time network video of the day's events starting with the first report and continuing until the evening. I have much in hte way of snippets but am searching for a continuous coverage video of one of the networks. I have one for the Kennedy Assasination from NBC which had been released on A&E years ago.

Fascinating...

1. There used to be a site, but it's since been taken down...

http://tvnews3.televisionarchive.org/tvarchive/html/ (inoperative, if you click on the link). They had ALL the feeds - CNN, MSNBC, BBC, even Faux. I really wish I could've captured what they had... I watched the NBC feed (the Today show) and, during the bumper leading to commercial, they showed a live exterior shot outside 30 Rock in midtown Manhattan. In it, you heard the whine of a jet engine with people looking up - it then cut to commercial (their little clock in the corner said 8:46 am - the jet noise was most likely AA Flight 90, which crashed into WTC1 seconds later)...

I have the 24 hrs on DVD (MSNBC) from 9:38 am until the following day. I watch it from time to time... :(

2. Try NY1. I don't know if they have it, but they were on all day.

I don't know if you can see it, but they certainly had video all day.

7. The archive which had about 10 networks on it
was good for about a year or so, and I used to watch it. I didn't know of a way to put it on a disk or I would have done so. The main problem with the archive site was that it was in 30 minute chunks, so you'd lose a tiny bit every time you'd go to the next half hour segment. It included things like some cable show in Texas that went briefly to NYC with the first plane crash, and then simply did updates for a while.

I recall on the day itself watching all the various channels one by one switch over to nonstop coverage. One of the financial channels was rather slow to do so. As were some of the shopping channels.

I also recall that my ABC station was doing live phone conversations with people trapped on the upper levels of the towers, but those were scrubbed by the time the archive was posted.

I'm sure there are people there that recorded everything, and looking on ebay sounds like a good idea.
