For your edification: Does anyone need this as much as I did? I'm
a little behind, but I got the gist of what spinners were trying to do. Read to the end, if you please.

From a couple of glossaries as referenced. One definition needs its own decoding of acronyms. I added some in parenthesis and included a definition of NIC.

NIE National Intelligence Estimate

NIE
A strategic estimate of the capabilities, vulnerabilities, and probable courses of action of foreign nations produced at the national level as a composite of the views of the intelligence community. Also called NIE.

NIE
National Intelligence Estimate (NIE)-These reports are the DCI's(Director of Central Intelligence) most authoritative written judgments concerning national security issues. They deal with capabilities, vulnerabilities, and probable courses of action of foreign nations and key developments relevant to the vital interests of the United States. NIEs are produced at the national level by the NIC (National Intelligence Council) and are issued by the DCI with the approval of the NFIB National Foreign Intelligence Board). NIEs are designed to identify trends of significance to national security and, when relevant, differences of views among the principal intelligence officers of the US Government. Presidential Summaries of NIEs are prepared for the President, Vice President, and other key executive officers.

Further definition of the acronym NIC:

NIC = National Intelligence Council (NIC)-The NIC is a staff of senior intelligence officers mingled with experts from outside the Intelligence Community under the leadership of the Chairman/NIC and the Assistant Deputy Director of Central Intelligence for Analysis and Production. The 12 NIOs produce National Intelligence Estimates and other interagency estimative publications, promote improvements in Community production and collection, and advise the DCI on the intelligence needs of policymakers.

What's happening to the country is that the spinners are talking about declassifying portions of the NIE on the subject of buying yellowcake in Niger. Some of them are trying to infer that since some of this report was declassified, that no law was broken. Which law? The one on the books since the Presidency of Carter making it illegal to out a CIA operative. The one that Pres GHW Bush has stated he endorses fully.

1. You see, Bush KNEW the information was incorrect...
so, when he leaked classified information, he leaked information that he knew wasn't true... which means it can't hurt national security, because it wasn't true.

Sorry, I'm pretending to be a Republican talking head.

In any case, we also need to be asking:

WHY DIDN'T THE PRESIDENT JUST TELL US HE AUTHORIZED IT, INSTEAD OF MAKING US SPEND MILLIONS OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS TO INVESTIGATE WHO LEAKED IT?

WHY DID THE PRESIDENT LIE TO CONGRESS ABOUT THIS?

WHY DID THE PRESIDENT LIE TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ABOUT THIS?

Whether he did anything illegal or not,

BUSH LIED!
