1. Yes, my husband just told me the same thing. So they played
the national hymn of China's arch enemy for the Chinese president's pleasure.
Who's in charge of diplomacy again? :wtf:

"Get your stinking paws off me you damn dirty ape!!!" yelled by Heston's character "Taylor" at one of the militaristic gorillas.

called them by the wrong name but doesn't make clear if they played the wrong song too - although that was the impression I got from CNN.

He and his crew are remarkably insensitive to everyone else. Was it intentional? I'd be more inclined to think that it was just incompentence.

25. There's nothing about this online, at all.
Are you sure this happened?

Just check Google News and look for "taiwan" and "anthem", and nothing related comes up. I'm sure someone would've reported on it by now..

27. BBC news has some pics........and protocol.....
.

Earlier, in a protocol gaffe, when China's national anthem was announced, it was referred to as the anthem of the Republic of China - the formal name of Taiwan. China's formal name is the People's Republic of China.

this thread is about the PLAYING of Taiwan's national anthem, not the incorrect identification of China's. So this thread (and its title) is misleading.
