Economic Report: Beer - The REAL Economic Stimulus - 04/09/09

Economic Report:

Does beer help the economy? According to a new study commissioned by the Beer Institute and the National Beer Wholesalers Association it does. One point nine million jobs are created by beer sales and the industry contributes $198 billion annually to the economy. The study suggests one million jobs are created within the industry while the beer industry supports 888,000 retail positions.

No, thats not what I believe, but you can expect the health Nazi's to use tobacco taxes as a template to rid the world of things they disagree with in the near future.

We once had a former (Russian? East German?) secret service officer give a talk at our high school and he said a great political error of Gorbachev's was limiting Vodka, costing him lots of power... ;)

13. I've just read
in Ale Street News (yeah, it's a real publication) that craft beer sales were up in 2008 compared to 2007. Beer may not be a recession proof business, but it's remarkably recession resistant.
