AFSCME Says “Fiscal Survey of States” Makes Compelling Case For Federal Aid Protecting A Million Job

http://www.laborradio.org/node/13634

By Doug Cunningham

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees says a new report released by the National Governors Association and the National Association of State Budget Officers makes a compelling case that state and local governments need federal help to protect a million jobs. AFSCME President Gerald McEntee says The Fiscal Survey of States makes it clear that if these jobs are lost, you can kiss economic recovery goodbye. McEntee is urging Congress to restore a six-month extension of federal funds to state Medicaid programs. AFSCME says helping states now will reduce deficits over the long run.
